Once again Canaan Elementary School walked for the cure.  

However, this year with heavy hearts.

Our leader, Mrs. Penni Hartnett who had once fought the horrible disease 

and appeared to have beaten it, succumbed to it in January, 2003.

This year we walked for the cure in Penni's memory.

Her family was present, Mr. Hartnett, her father, and children, Codi and Zachary.

Mrs. Baldwin the head of the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund

 made an appearance and brought her celebrity son, Daniel Baldwin.

Canaan once again collected a record breaking sum of over $16,000.00

which was given to Mrs. Baldwin.

Debbie Henthorne who lost her mother to breast cancer 

was an organizer this year.

The Canaan PTA supplied refreshments for the

 children and teachers who "Walked for the Cure."
